LAIF finances projects on climate change mitigation and adaptation, and environmental protection, contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals: 13 (Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts), 14 (Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources) and 15 (Sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, halt biodiversity loss), among others.
Relevant sub-sectors financed include:
Air pollution control, ozone layer preservation; marine pollution control.
Including natural reserves and actions in the surrounding areas; other measures to protect endangered or vulnerable species and their habitats (e.g. wetlands preservation).
