Improved sanitation for people and the environment in Costa Rica
This program aims at financing priority wastewater projects in selected cities in Costa Rica. LAIF contributes with preparatory studies that will close a significant information gap and allow investments in improved wastewater infrastructure. The objective is to improve the environmental conditions and to create positive impacts in public health.

New or rehabilitated sewer pipes: 169 km.
Wastewater treatment capacity: 59 900 m3/d.
Population benefiting from improved sanitation services: 49 900 households.
Wastewater treated: 162 600 population equivalent.
